Frequently asked questions.
How do I know what type of service I need?
This is tricky! Manuscripts are in all types of stages, sometimes all at once. I recommend filling out a contact form to let me know you are unsure of what you need, and we will set up a meeting to figure it out! These initial meetings are not charged as they are purely informational. Don’t hesitate to ask!
I’m on a budget. Do you offer payment plans?
Absolutely. I will always work with an author who may need a little breathing room. Financial situations are hard, and I don’t want that to be a barrier that stops your work from being the best it can be. If need be, we can work something out!
How do you know what’s best for my book?
Well, I don’t necessarily. I have a background in editorial work and storytelling, and have learned that this process is collaborative on both ends. Meaning, I am reading the manuscript for your vision, not mine. Before any work starts, I will ask you if you have anything you’d like me to look out for, what your big picture for the story is, and if you have any problem areas you just don’t know what to do with. Using both my editorial degree and creative writing degree, I can come up with a few solutions or paths for you to take your story if you choose to use them.
What genres do you work in?
I work with Adult, YA, and NA fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, and romance. I love these genres and am an avid reader of whatever I can get my hands on in them, which gives me an eye for tropes, arcs, and plot lines that work, or don’t work. I will sometimes take creative non-fiction, such as memoirs. However, all other non-fiction books and poetry are not in my skill set, and I wouldn’t want to steer anyone in the wrong direction.
